I was surprised when I found this piece. I had totally forgotten about it and seems to be the first time I ever took an interest in politics. I'm not exactly sure what I was so mad about back then as far as the United States Government goes but it's relevant today. This is a perfect example of how I feel about my country right now.
At the time I created this piece I had found an old linen canvass stashed away in the Art room of my High School. I was given permission to take it and paint on it and ended up going a step further. After painting a mangled flag on it I poured gasoline all over it and set it on fire. I extinguished it soon after. A friend of mine took pictures while I was doing it but to this day I haven't seen them. I later wrapped it in caution tape I had been wanting to get rid of for a while. The dark maroon text near the bottom reads Failure.
